One Pediatrician's Approach to Calming Crying Babies

Dr Hamilton claims he has the secret to calming down a crying baby.‪#‎HolyGrailofParenting‬

Since the beginning of time, parents have been trying just about everything possible to calm a crying baby. Everyone has their own technique and secret, however, Dr. Robert Hamilton, a pediatrician from Santa Monica, California, has his own trick — and it may not be a method you'd think of on your own.

Hamilton, who has been practicing pediatrics for about 30 years, is obviously passionate about caring for newborn children. He recently shared his technique, which he calls "The Hold" to calm a crying baby.

Hamilton suggests folding the baby's arms across their front and holding them with one of your hands. Next, grasp the child by the bottom with your other hand, holding the child at a 45-degree angle. Then gently rock the child up and down. The doctor also suggests gently shaking the child's bottom back-and-forth.

Immediately, the crying children in the clip became calm when Hamilton introduced them to The Hold, much to the delight of the child's parents.

Dr. Hamilton shows how to calm a crying baby. This technique has been utilized by Dr. Bob to quiet infants during office visits. Parents have learned it and have experienced great success at home. You can too.
